Where the data comes from and how to use it.
Data Sources
The original portal rebuilt datasets daily from these sources. Each asset declares its source in the asset code.
- Lily
- Chain data on BigQuery: power, sectors, rewards, fees, and messages.
- Filecoin JSON-RPC
- Current storage provider state and PDP registry reads, from Glif, Chain.love, and ChainUp nodes.
- RIBA chain archive
-
Daily
eth_getBlockReceiptsdumps fromchain.data.riba.plus, the source of all FEVM event logs. - Filecoin Services
- Contract deployments, plus Blockscout ABIs, to decode Filecoin Pay, Warm Storage, and PDP events.
- PDP provider registry
- Provider names, status, and endorsements.
- CoinCodex
- Daily FIL price, volume, and market cap.
- Open Source Observer
- Public goods funding deployments.
- Filecoin API
- Current Warm Storage data sets and Filecoin Pay rails.
- ProbeLab / Dealbot
- Storage, retrieval, and pull checks. These are probe observations, not all client traffic.
- DefiLlama
- DeFi TVL, USDFC supply, and GLIF iFIL yield, dated by snapshot time.
- Blockscout traces
- Fee-auction calls used to value FIL in quarterly Filecoin Pay Volume.
The Filecoin data sources guide compares additional APIs, indexers, and RPC endpoints, including access details and limits.
Using Datasets
Every dataset in the catalog is published daily as a Parquet file. Any Parquet-capable tool can read it directly from:
https://data.filecoindataportal.xyz/<dataset>.parquet Dates are UTC. Units and definitions are documented for each column. Null values mean unavailable or undefined, not zero; gaps in the source archive leave dependent metrics unavailable.
DuckDB
Run it in the DuckDB CLI or in the browser with SQL Workbench.
select date, onboarded_pibs, raw_power_pibs
from 'https://data.filecoindataportal.xyz/daily_network_metrics.parquet'
order by date desc
limit 7; Python
import polars as pl
df = pl.read_parquet(
"https://data.filecoindataportal.xyz/miners.parquet"
) JavaScript
daily_network_metrics is also published as JSON for
dashboards.
const url = "https://data.filecoindataportal.xyz/daily_network_metrics.json"
const rows = await (await fetch(url)).json() Whole database
All public tables are available in one DuckDB file, for DuckDB 2.0 or newer:
attach 'https://data.filecoindataportal.xyz/fdp.duckdb' as fdp (read_only);
use fdp;
show tables; AI agents
Point your agent to SKILL.md or llms.txt to find, query, and chart the datasets.
Dashboards
Filecoin In Numbers is built on the same datasets. See the source code.
